Harm Reduction
Harm Reduction
Harm reduction is part of a comprehensive prevention strategy and the continuum of care. Harm reduction approaches have proven to prevent death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. Harm reduction is effective in addressing the public health epidemic involving substance use as well as infectious disease and other harms associated with drug use. – SAMHSA 4/2023
AICDAC understands the importance of harm reduction when it comes to individuals with substance use disorders. As a result, we provide five distinct harm reduction strategies in our counties.
All dispensing units and supplies are FREE!
Narcan (Naloxone) Nasal Spray
Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an overdose that is caused by an opioid drug. This includes prescription pain medication, fentanyl, and heroin. Narcan is always available at any of our office locations during business hours or after hours through one of our Narcan vending machines.
Drug Testing Strips
Drug testing strips reduce overdose and health risks associated with ingesting unknown substances. Currently we have Fentanyl and Xylazine testing strips. These strips are available at any of our office locations during business hours or after hours through one of our Narcan vending machines.
