Every October and April, The DEA hosts National Rx Take Back Day. This year, National Rx Take Back Day fell on October 26, 2024. This initiative aims to collect unused or expired medications, so that they are not sitting in a medicine cabinet at home. Too often, these unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands which is dangerous and often tragic.
The Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission, in partnership with local law enforcement, hosts Drug Take Back events in each of our three counties to collect unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications. On October 26th, AICDAC staff partnered with Indiana County Sheriff, Robert Fyock, and Diamond Drug Store in Indiana for a Drug Take Back event. In total, 48.5 pounds of medication were collected safely and anonymously to be destroyed.
